The above link provides access to a joint media statement between the Blue Mountains Conservation Society (BMCS) and Delta Electricity.
The BMCS initiated court action against Delta Electricity on the basis of discharge of substances that were covered by the Clean Water Act but were not included on Delta’s Environmental Licence when the Act was repealed.
Whilst Delta could have pursued an outcome that simply licensed this discharge, it has chosen the option of fully treating Wallerawang blowdown water.
This outcome was acceptable to the BMCS, and Delta is seeking to have the works included in its Environmental Licence.
Delta considers this outcome to be a win for the environment and an example of its commitment to sustainability and constructive stakeholder relations.
