Approval has been granted for the construction of a rail coal unloader at Pipers Flat in Western New South Wales.
Delta's Western power stations are the only power stations in NSW which do not have a rail coal unloader. This new facility will help ensure adequate and competitively priced supplies of coal for the existing Mt Piper and Wallerawang Power Stations.
Planning approval
The project was assessed under Part 3a of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. The Minister for Planning granted approval on 27 June, 2009 following a comprehensive environmental assessment and community consultation.
Over thirty consent conditions have been included as part of the approval. These conditions require that stringent measures be put in place during both the construction and operating phases. Click on the links below to read more detail about the approval and consent conditions.
