Marulan

The proposal

On 26 October 2009, approval was granted to Delta Electricity to build a gas turbine plant on a site near the Marulan high voltage switchyard near Brayton. EnergyAustralia have also been granted approval to build a second gas turbine facility on an adjacent site.

The NSW Government’s Energy Reform Strategy identified the Marulan sites as two of seven NSW energy infrastructure development sites to be made available for sale.

Environmental Assessment
The consultancy firm URS Australia (URS) completed the Environmental Assessment for these projects, as required under the provisions of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.  The Environmental Assessment has addressed the environmental aspects of the two facilities individually, as well as their cumulative impacts.

Measures to mitigate any impact of gas turbine operations on the local social and ecological environment have been identified as part of the specialist studies conducted for the environmental assessment.
