National Pollutant Inventory

About the NPI

The National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) is an Internet database designed to provide the community, industry and government with information on the types and amounts of certain substances being emitted to the environment.

Industrial facilities are required to report emissions to the NPI if they use or emit more than a certain amount of one or more substances on the NPI reporting list, or consume more than a specified amount of fuel or electric power, or discharge more than a certain amount of nitrogen or phosphorus to water.

Where direct measurements of emissions are not available, emissions are estimated using techniques outlined in industry handbooks and related manuals. The use of emission factors means that all data should be considered as indicative rather than absolute.

NPI Emission Report

To review all Delta Electricity NPI emission reports, use the following link and enter Delta Electricity for the Facility Name: Select the appropriate year and click on Search. Detailed reports for all years for Delta Electricity and individual power stations are available. Because the default emission factors are generally related to the amount of particulate matter emitted, stations built with fabric filter dust removal equipment report lower emissions than those with precipitators.
