Information Access

On 1 July 2010 the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 came into effect, replacing the former Freedom of Information law.  The new law creates rights to information that are designed to meet community expectations of more open and transparent government.  More information about ways to access NSW government information is available on the Information and Privacy Commission (IPC) website at www.ipc.nsw.gov.au

Access to information may be made either by way of an informal request to the Right to Information Officer or by a formal application.   Contact the Right to Information Officer on 02 9285 2700.

A form is provided below to assist you in making a valid formal application for access to information as it must :

  • Be in writing.
  • State that it is made under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (NSW).
  • Have an Australian postal address for return correspondence.
  • Provide enough details to help the agency identify the information sought.
  • Enclose the application fee of $30.
