The Delta Electricity Education Package (DEEP) is designed to help students discover electricity and how we came to understand that it was more than just lightning in the sky. The program will look at how energy can be created and harnessed, some of the infinite and varied uses society has for electricity and methods for conserving and managing electricity effectively.
DEEP is broken into five parts. The first four are cross-curricular and contain a number of projects and lesson plans for activities such as creating circuits, giving presentations and completing fun-sheets such as crosswords and find-a-words. Students will have an opportunity to revise what they learn and demonstrate an understanding of the work covered.
Combined with a visit to the Delta Electricity Mt Piper Power Station, teachers can make the most of the fifth and final part of DEEP as it contains printable worksheets and activities for students to complete during the excursion.
